Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Bumprise collects, how the mobile app uses that information, when it is shared with service providers or third parties, how moderation and account deletion work, and what choices are available to users.

Contents

1. Scope and controller

This Privacy Policy explains how Hanai Inc processes personal information in connection with the Bumprise mobile application, the related website pages published for Bumprise, and the support channels linked from those services.

It applies to information processed when you create an account, sign in, browse educational content, save favorites, upload a profile image, submit feedback, comment on stories or topics, use chat features, request account deletion, contact support, or otherwise interact with Bumprise.

For purposes of this policy, Bumprise, we, us, and our refer to Hanai Inc. The controller information available through the current product materials is Hanai Inc, San Francisco, California 94114, reachable at shamala@hanaihealth.com.

2. Information we collect

The app is built around account-based access, multilingual educational content, community participation, and communication features. Because of that design, we process several categories of information depending on which features you use.

Account and identity information

When you create or maintain an account, we may process your first name, last name, email address, phone number, sign-in method, Firebase account identifier, language, account status, role information, and timestamps showing when your account record was created or updated.

The app supports multiple access methods, including email and password login, guest access, Apple sign-in, Facebook sign-in, and phone verification. If you use Apple or Facebook sign-in, we receive the account data needed to authenticate you and link that authentication to your Bumprise account.

Profile and preference information

If you complete or edit your profile, we may process your birthdate, preferred language, profile photo, and related storage metadata. During phone-based onboarding, the app also records whether you selected a preference indicating that you want SMS updates.

If you interact with advisor features, internal role or expertise fields may also be associated with certain accounts so that advisors can be displayed inside the app with labels, languages, or external profile links.

Information you choose to submit inside the app

Bumprise lets users submit comments, replies, chat messages, profile edits, story and topic feedback, favorites, and account-management requests. We process the content of those submissions so the feature works as intended.

If you report a message or comment, or block another user, we also process the associated moderation record so the reported or blocked content can be filtered for your account and reviewed if necessary.

  • Comments and replies posted on stories or topics.
  • Direct chat messages sent through advisor or user chat flows.
  • Helpful or not-helpful feedback and optional text comments.
  • Favorite stories and favorite topics stored on your user profile.
  • Reports and block records tied to content or user IDs.

Media and file information

If you choose a profile picture using your camera or photo library, the selected image is uploaded to cloud storage and linked back to your user record. The file metadata generated during storage, such as file name, timestamps, and content type, may also be processed.

The app also delivers media-rich content, including story videos, podcast audio, and topic or story images. While much of that material is editorial content rather than user data, your use of these features may create associated interaction records as described below.

Usage and interaction information

When you open stories or topics while signed in, the app updates per-user view records and aggregate view counts in its content database. We also process interaction information needed to support favorites, chat threads, comment ordering, reply loading, and similar in-app behavior.

The app uses local device storage for operational purposes such as preserving login state, onboarding state, or language-related settings. Standard technical information generated by your device, operating system, or network may also be processed by the app infrastructure in order to authenticate you, deliver content, store files, and keep the service functioning.

Verification and support information

If you use phone verification, we process your phone number, verification code workflow, delivery method selection such as SMS or WhatsApp, and the backend response needed to verify the code and sign you in or continue onboarding.

If you contact us through email or linked support pages, we will also process the information you include in that communication and any related records needed to respond.

3. How we collect information

Directly from you

Most of the information described above is collected directly from you when you register, complete your profile, upload a photo, write a message, save a favorite, leave a comment, submit feedback, or ask to delete your account.

From authentication and platform providers

If you use Apple sign-in or Facebook sign-in, we receive the authentication information required to sign you in and associate the third-party identity with your Bumprise account. If you access Bumprise through the Apple App Store or Google Play, those platforms may separately process your information under their own policies.

From app infrastructure and service logs

Our infrastructure providers and integrated services may generate service logs, authentication events, file-storage metadata, and security records as part of running the app. Those records are used to keep the product available, secure, and functional.

From your use of content and community features

When you read topics, open stories, participate in comments, or use chat, the app creates interaction records needed to display content, count views, attach your submissions to your account, and enforce your report or block choices.

4. How we use information

We use personal information only to operate, support, secure, and improve Bumprise and to provide the specific features you choose to use.

  • Create, authenticate, and maintain your account across guest, email, phone, Apple, and Facebook sign-in flows.
  • Deliver multilingual educational content, stories, codex materials, audio, video, and profile functionality.
  • Store and display your profile details, favorites, chat threads, comments, replies, and feedback.
  • Send or verify phone-based authentication codes through our verification workflow.
  • Process account deletion requests and sign-out flows.
  • Maintain abuse-prevention, moderation, and safety controls, including reporting and blocking records.
  • Keep the application functioning, troubleshoot failures, protect against unauthorized access, and improve the reliability of the service.
  • Respond to support requests, legal requests, or other communications you send to us.

5. How and when we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do share information with service providers and technology partners when that is reasonably necessary to run Bumprise or when you choose a feature that depends on a third party.

Cloud and infrastructure providers

Bumprise is built with Firebase services for authentication, database storage, and media storage. Information you submit to the app may therefore be processed through Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Storage in order to support login, content delivery, comments, chat, favorites, and profile image uploads.

Authentication and identity services

If you sign in with Apple or Facebook, those providers process data according to their own terms and privacy policies. We receive only the data needed to authenticate you and create or maintain your Bumprise account.

Verification services

Phone verification uses external verification endpoints to request and confirm one-time codes. That means your phone number, verification method, and code validation information may be processed through those backend services to complete sign-in or onboarding.

Links, external sites, and in-app browsing

The app may open external websites, advisor information pages, mail links, support pages, or PDF resources. When you open those destinations, the third-party site or service controls its own privacy practices. Bumprise is not responsible for the content or practices of those third parties.

Legal and safety disclosures

We may disclose information if required to comply with law, valid legal process, or enforceable governmental request, or when disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect users, our service, or the public from fraud, abuse, or security threats.

Business transfers

If Hanai Inc is involved in a merger, financing, acquisition, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that process subject to applicable law and appropriate confidentiality protections.

6. Community, chat, and user-generated content

Some Bumprise features are social or community-facing. If you choose to post a comment, reply to another user, send a chat message, or submit content that can be viewed by others, that material is processed so it can be displayed inside the service and associated with the relevant conversation or content item.

You should use caution when sharing sensitive information in community features. Even when Bumprise provides report, delete, or block tools, no digital community tool can guarantee that other users will never copy, quote, retain, or misuse information you decide to share.

  • Comments and replies may be visible to other users inside the app.
  • Chat messages are stored and displayed inside the relevant conversation thread.
  • Report and block tools are used to hide or flag content in relation to your account, but they do not guarantee that previously viewed content can be fully recalled from another person’s device.

7. Retention of information

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Bumprise, maintain account integrity, support moderation and safety functions, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

When you request account deletion through the in-app deletion flow or otherwise submit a verifiable deletion request, we will take commercially reasonable steps to delete or de-identify the personal information associated with your account, subject to lawful exceptions such as security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, and records we must retain to defend legal claims or complete operational obligations.

Some residual information may remain in backups, logs, or system archives for a limited period after deletion while those systems rotate or are securely overwritten.

8. Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to your personal information, request correction, request deletion, object to or limit certain processing, or request a portable copy of information you provided to us. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

  • You can update certain profile fields directly in the app.
  • You can sign out of the app at any time.
  • You can request deletion of your account through the in-app delete-account flow or by contacting us.
  • You can manage device-level permissions such as camera, photo library, notifications, and operating-system account settings through your device settings.
  • You can choose whether to use Apple sign-in, Facebook sign-in, phone verification, or guest access where those options are offered.

9. Children’s privacy

Bumprise is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the service, contact us so we can review the issue and take appropriate action.

If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you should review this policy with a parent or legal guardian before using the service or sharing information through it.

10. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, and alteration. Those safeguards include the use of managed cloud infrastructure, authenticated access controls, and system-level protections appropriate to the type of information Bumprise processes.

No mobile app, website, cloud platform, or electronic transmission is completely secure. You should protect your own account credentials, keep your device secure, and avoid sharing highly sensitive information in public or semi-public areas of the service unless you are comfortable with the risk.

11. International processing

Bumprise and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Because the app uses cloud and platform services, information may be stored or processed on servers operated in multiple jurisdictions.

By using Bumprise, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions whose privacy laws may differ from those in your home country, subject to applicable legal safeguards.

12. Changes to this policy and contact details

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the product, our practices, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we may update the date at the top of this policy, publish the revised version on the Bumprise site, and, where appropriate, provide notice through the app or another reasonable channel.

Questions, requests, or privacy-related concerns may be sent to shamala@hanaihealth.com. You may also contact us using the support link published with the service at https://hanaihealth.com/contact-brine.
